
Amity Global School offers the Cambridge Lower and Upper Secondary curriculum from grade 6-10. The curriculum is progressive and flexible, helping students become independent learners. Cambridge Lower Secondary (Grade 6 to 8)
AGS follows the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum in the middle school (grade 6 to 8) for 11-14 yearolds. Students in grade 8 take the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint exam. These tests are used to monitor learners’ readiness for the next stage of education. It also provides an excellent foundation for Cambridge IGCSE.
Assessment
The students have internal exams based on the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum. Students also write the Cambridge Checkpoint exam to assess learning in English, Mathematics and Science at the end of grade 8.
Cambridge IGCSE (Grade 9 and 10)
The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is typically for learners aged 14-16 years. It is based on a learner-centered and enquiry-based approach to learning. IGCSE qualifications provide excellent progressions to, the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Advanced Placement courses (USA) and A and AS Level.
AGS offers wide range of flexible subject options such as First language English/ English and Hindi as Second language, French/Spanish/German as a foreign language, International Mathematics Core/ Extended, Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Management, Economics, Business Studies, Geography, Literature in English and Art and Design.
IGCSE subjects are equivalent to an Indian or US honors high school curriculum (grade 9-10). AGS offers IGCSE curriculum, with a flexible choice of subjects depending on students’ ability, interest and future career plans.
Recognition
IGCSE is recognized by CBSE, ICSE and State Education Boards in India as a qualification for entry to class XI or for other higher secondary education courses. It is also treated as a class X qualification for admission to undergraduate courses in India.
Assessment
Assessment for IGCSE includes written and oral tests, coursework and practical assessment. Coursework is set and marked by the teacher and externally moderated by Cambridge. Grading is on an eight-point scale (A*–G). Students aiming for grades A* to C follow the Extended curriculum. The students studying core curriculum are awarded from grade C to G. At AGS IGCSE examination are held in May/June. Results are issued in August.
Grade C in IGCSE English (both First Language and Second Language) satisfies the English proficiency requirements of many universities in the UK and other Anglophone countries.
